Un an plus tard, Intel r\u00e9cidive en cr\u00e9ant le premier microprocesseur 8 bits : le 8008. Cadenc\u00e9 \u00e0 200 kHz, il peut adresser 16 Ko de m\u00e9moire et comprend 3 500 transistors. TEXAS INSTRUMENTS sort le premier microprocesseur 16 bits, le TMS 9900, en 1976. Intel commercialise le sien cadenc\u00e9 \u00e0 4,77 MHz, le 8086, en 1978 (comprenant 29 000 transistors, il est capable de g\u00e9rer 1 Mo de m\u00e9moire). En 1979, Intel sort le 8088, un microprocesseur 8 bits identique au 8086, il \u00e9quipera les premiers PC d&#8217;IBM.
